Ford Mustang Mach 1 Through Years
Ford Falcon Compact is predecessor of the irreplaceable American car called Ford Mustang. The first Mustang ever was launched on 9th March 1964 in Dearborn, Michigan, exposed to the views of entire world on 17th April 1964 at World’s Fair in New York and finally shown on television on 19th April 1964.
The very first car had red interior and white exterior. Ford Mustang has kept this reputation all the way until today, with more than million units sold during the first 18 months from the launch. The car became insanely popular, mostly thanks to its super performance, interesting styling and low price. It can be found at the market even today. Ford Mustang carries a name that resembles P-51 Mustang from the WW2.
Mustang has aged with time like a bottle of good wine. It was largely inspired by Ford Torino / Mercury Montego and began to grow in size from its predecessor Falcon. Semon “Bunkie” Knudsen from General Motors was in charge of design of Ford Mustang.
The car was running on 375 hp and was called 429 Super Cobra Jet in 1971. Its limits were 5.8-liters during 1972 and 1973 which were compatible with the market demand because of excessive need for big block muscle cars because of high insurance. Mustang was even operational with 351 “HO” and 351 Cobra Jet engines from 1972.
This ended up with rather poor results, on top of which Mustang fans started wanting the same old-time Mustang.
